About 30 minutes ago, I finished the Cosmo Bag.
I'm shocked at how much this bag will hold. Shocked, I tell you!
This was, technically, the January project...so I'm behind a little. I also know that I'm gonna jump around in this book and sew things as my inspiration and motivation lead.
This side has 4 pockets. 2 small 2 med
This side has 2 large pockets
I changed the pocket configuration, inside the bag, from 4 large pockets (2 on each side) to 2 smallish pockets and 2 medium pockets on one side; for something like...oh..a couple extra necessities for the littles and also the small pockets for things like an iPod and/or phone. The other 2 pockets are fairly large and would hold diapers, or a paperback book, etc.
I am planning to list this one on my etsy site, but if it hasn't sold by Mid-May it will happily become my knitting storage bag. And if it does sell I'll just make another one.
As for the construction - whew - I'm not what you'd call mega experienced. It does make me a bit nervous that this bag is listed as "easy". There were moments when the instructions had me putting everything down and leaving it for an hour or two (or overnight) while I tried to get a mental picture of the process. More pictures would have helped tremendously. When I make this bag again I will try to take "step-by-step" photos to help illustrate the vague parts of the instructions. Maybe that will be helpful to someone out there. maybe.
Bye for now.
LOVE, LOVE, LOVE this bag!!!
ReplyDeleteCute, cute bag!! Love your choice of fabrics.
ReplyDeleteI did an Amy Butler pattern once. Well, one time making 3 bags. UGH!! So now with your experience, I wonder more about the pattern writing than sewing ability.
Cute!
ReplyDeleteUm, I'm not even going to go on if that's easy... BUT that is a cute bag, I like the change in pocket sizes that you did. Much prefer a couple of smaller so you can actually find stuff.
ReplyDeleteLove it! Love the color, love the pattern.
ReplyDeleteRobin, that is a gorgeous bag! You have such a wonderful ability to pick out complementary fabrics and then use them in a way that shows them off to the best advantage.
ReplyDeleteLooks to me like you're getting back in your artistic & creative groove. :)
ReplyDeleteLooks great! I'm so glad you're joining the Sew Along! I promise, the next project is MUCH easier! I think everybody can agree the Cosmo Bag shouldn't have been the first in the book. Can't wait to see what else you make this year.
ReplyDeleteOh my heck...I LOVE that bag!!!! I've been looking for a new purse....hmmmm.....I'm guessing I'll be looking at your site vs. a Vera Bradley. :)
ReplyDeleteWould red things match this??? Or is it too pink??? Or do you do custom orders??? :)
Hayes - message me on FB. We'll talk. :)
ReplyDeleteYou just need to make a bunch more, because that bag is CUTE! Can I special order one in Shirin friendly colors? LOVE the site, too. Gorgeous.
ReplyDelete@Shirin - YES. What are Shirin-friendly colors? :) email me. I've got 5 aprons in the works right now and won't be free to start new orders until late April. But I'm gung-ho.
