It's the time of year to think about planting roses.

The Fun Girls have  a good post about growing roses.   Undoubtedly there's more to it than just what is in that post - but it's a good start to doing your own homework to educate yourself on the subject.

Country Garden Roses has wonderful information  and they have a feature on one of MY favorite roses.  Fantin Latour.   *happy sigh*

Go play in the dirt and think of me.   I'm still stuck indoors waiting for REAL spring to arrive.

What is your  favorite plant growing in your yard?

I think mine is my lilacs.   They're not blooming until late April or May.  But I'm looking forward to it!

  1. I just don't think I have the sunshine I'd need to grow roses. Don't you think I'd kill them? Not on purpose, or anything...

  2. Oooo. Susan. WHat you need is Lyda Rose. She's very shade tolerant and dainty. But nothing like your traditional rose. Google her. You decide. :)

  3. Here's a perfect link to Lyda Rose and it's at Heirloom Roses, too. :) http://www.heirloomroses.com/cgi-bin/browse.cgi?page=item&item=228

  4. I LOVE lilacs and over the fence they flourish, my side? nope :sigh:

We have a couple of roses and I'm thinking of planting some new ones to scramble up the gazebo and arbour. Just have to get all the trees planted first.
