New apron pattern

is this adorable?

I'm going to figure out a way to post color choices and make the apron for each customer, after it is ordered.

I'm also thinking of a Mother/Daughter option with a special price of $10 for each additional daughter apron (after the first daughter apron and this price would only be for 'little girl' aprons).

Thoughts? Does this sound like too much confusion or would it work?

Anyone who knows me knows that I'm NO chef!

My friend susan is the Anti-Robin in that respect. She cooks! And so why bother blabbing on about something irrelevant? Sooze has cheesecake cookin'!

Go read her blog post.

I've already printed out the recipe.

100th Post! Lets CELEBRATE with a give-away half apron!

Yay. My 100th post. Who knew I had so much to say about so little?

Anyway - let's get to the important issue. I'm giving away a half apron.

Here's a photo:

Isn't it cute? Don't you just love those nice long ties? That makes this apron very versatile as to what size person will feel comfortable wearing it.

To enter the drawing: Leave a comment. Be sure to check back here on Sunday to find out if you are the winner.

Have fun.

Oh, and since I'm here I should mention I added a couple of small knitted items to my etsy shop. Go check 'em out.

Blessings all!!

Live simply so others can simply live.

My friend Tanya made a suggestion recently that I just love. How about finding ways to give gifts without increasing our piles of stuff and also helping someone who needs help? Here are a few suggestions (in no particular order).

Making a financial donation to an organization like Compassion International?

How about this one: Heifer International

I know some people don't really appreciate getting a note that says "A donation has been made in your name to ______." How about this idea instead? Their focus: "Fair trade allows you to give unique, high-quality gifts to family and friends— while giving hope and income to the poor."

If you still need a little encouragement to let go of the idea of "getting more stuff" - lets see if Bono can inspire you.

I am Really not ready...not at all...

My son and I attended the College Fair today. *gulp*

I'm so proud of my man-child. He's got a pretty solid idea of what he's looking for in a college and where he wants it to be (or NOT be). He's hoping to stay in the state (bless him!!!).

I just smile when he answers questions like "What are you looking to major in?" with "Oh I want to take some classes in theater and filmmaking."

It's all new to both of us. Neither of us know the lingo. We really stand out in the most uncomfortable ways. oh well

It's very tempting to try to steer him toward something that looks financially more profitable for him in the long run. But I really look back with appreciation that my parents didn't try to squeeze me in any one direction. There are occasions when I wish they had. Then again; I would have revolted. So, they were wise to leave me be. My regrets are entirely my own responsibility in this respect. I am hoping that sonny boy will own his regrets as well. I'm also praying that he will continue to find himself doing what he loves and changing the world through it.

I'm really not ready for this. It has all happened so fast.

blah blah blah

It is what it is.

I know some people hate that saying. Yet, the more I ponder it, the more I agree with it.

Take parenting teens for instance; that's something that IS what it IS and I am being made aware every day just how little control I have over this thing called adolescence.

When my kids were little I just knew that I was doing things that would shape their future and make them charming, disciplined, mature and responsible. They were supposed to skip straight from being children to being young adults. I was expecting it - ergo it would happen. And you know what they've gone and done? They've become adolescents anyway.

Don't take that to mean that I'm saying they're giving me trouble. They're not. It's just different. It just...Is what it IS.

Fortunately the good Lord has given me the ability to recall my late teens vividly. I remember my snotty attitude when tragedy had befallen (you know...when I lost my walkman or something earth-shattering like that) or the speed at which the tears would stream down my face over whether or not to wear the red tee with green cords (the answer there is NO, by the way).

Sigh...

My kids are amazing. They're growing up well. They're not perfect. They're not mini-adults. They're making lots and lots of mistakes and they're learning huge lessons from them and I'm trying to keep my GINORMOUS mouth shut. But, still. It is what it is. I'm finally learning that I don't have as much control as I thought I did (this is a good thing, too).

Lost in translation?

I love laughing. There really aren't enough hours in the day for all of the laughing I want to do. If I could get away with it I'd listen to comedians or hang out with my friends Susan, Anne and Chloe every waking minute (those girls know FUNNY). Unfortunately, life gets a little serious for my tastes. Still. I find time to laugh.

My point today is to share this. Now that's a good laugh!
